I have two rules in effect, Regicide and Incompatibility, so you could get a pretty good idea which it is by seeing whether anything similar happened when only one of them was in effect. This is probably a misunderstanding of the basic rules that won't become clear until, say, you and Meze both try playing simultaneously in a situation like this one, or possibly until I say this.
